Richard Lang y Judith Selby Lang han estado recolectando desechos plásticos de la playa Kehoe en el norte de California por más de 10 años. Cada pieza recogida es llevada hasta su hogar, donde es limpiada, categorizada y guardada antes de usarla para crear sus piezas de arte. La pareja crea esculturas, impresoras, joyas e instalaciones con el plástico que encuentran, despertando una inquietud más profunda sobre el problema de la contaminación en nuestros océanos.
El video nos muestra la historia de Richard, Judith y la playa, donde su amor por la naturaleza y su curiosidad innata los ha llevado a juntar toneladas de plástico que luego se transforma en su trabajo. Lo más impresionante es ver todo lo que han encontrado y como cada día siguen apareciendo nuevos objetos.
Según la pareja, muchas cosas que encuentran no son dejadas por visitantes, sino que llegan desde el mar, navegando por las corrientes y dejando en evidencia la historia de nuestras playas.

Richard Lang and Judith Selby Lang have been collecting plastic debris off one beach in Northern California for over ten years. Each piece of plastic Richard and Judith pick up comes back to their house, where it gets cleaned, categorized and stored before being used for their art. The couple make sculptures, prints, jewelry and installations with the plastic they find washed up, raising a deeper concern with the problem of plastic pollution in our seas.
The video shows us the story of Richard, Judy and the beach, where their love for nature and their natural curiosity has made them gather tons of plastic that later transforms in their work. The most impressive thing is to see everything they have found and how each day new objects appear.
According to the couple, many things they found are not left there by visitors, but come from the sea, sailing through waves and leaving in evidence the story of our beaches.

TEMA Magazine en colaboración con BOLO Paper están buscando un nuevo ilustrador para dibujar cuatro portadas del segundo año de la revista.
TEMA Magazine es un proyecto editorial online curado por Sibilla Zandonini. Cada número, 4 jóvenes artistas italianos son entrevistados sobre un tema específico para investigar sobre su background artístico y su evolución. Cada año, la revista lanza 4 números y hoy en día cuentan con más de 6 mil lectores.
Junto a BOLO Paper, una editorial independiente basada en Milan y creada por Marco Nicotra, están organizando una increíble convocatoria que nos han hecho llegar para difundirla en el blog. Les dejamos aquí la información :
La competencia está abierta a ilustradores de todas las edades y nacionalidades. Los candidatos deben crear una ilustración inspirada por el tema del próximo número de la revista, que saldrá en Marzo 2012, titulada “Growing Old”. La ilustración seleccionada será la nueva portada de la revista, que aparecerá también en todas las redes sociales de TEMA y en los comunicados de prensa, y el ganador será invitado a producir las portadas del resto de los números del año. Las portadas deben enviarse a cover@temamagazine.it antes del 7 de Marzo 2012.

TEMA Magazine is an online editorial project curated by Sibilla Zandonini. The competition is open to illustrators, without any age or nationality limitation.Candidates must create an illustration inspired by the title of the next issue of TEMA, coming out March 17th, 2012: “Growing old”. The selected winning image will be the cover of the 5th issue of TEMA, and will also represent TEMA on social networks and press releases. Then the winner will be asked to produce the remaining covers of the second year for a total of four issues. The covers must be send to cover@temamagazine.it no later than March 7th, 2012.
